Silk Dupion
A balance between structure and softness, imperfection and refinement, time and form.
Silk dupion is made by weaving two silk threads together, often from different cocoons, which creates a tightly woven fabric with an unmistakable texture. The surface is marked by small slubs, knots, and shifts in the weave. Natural irregularities that catch the light in unexpected ways.
These subtle imperfections are what I find most beautiful.
In a world that often favors the polished and the uniform, silk dupion reminds me that irregularity is honest. That beauty comes in the quiet differences.
Each piece of fabric carries its own variations. No two garments made from dupion will ever be exactly the same, and I love the intimacy that brings.
Creating Form
I was searching for fabric that offered structure without stiffness. Fabric that supports sculptural form, while allowing every wearer to experience the design in a way unique to them.
Silk dupion gives that.
It holds shape while still allowing for movement and breath.
It reflects light in a way that feels subtle but alive.
Working with dupion feels like a collaboration. I listen to what the fabric wants to do, how it wants to move, where it wants to resist. Each garment was designed with minimal seams, to honour the fabric and treat it like a canvas. It felt like my job to give the fabric a place to rest.
In a world that often moves too fast, silk dupion invites slowness.
It invites you to notice texture, to feel weight, to take your time enjoying the details.
